My reflection on my own learning process by considering the following questions:
1. What have you learned?
During my learning process, I think I have learned to pay more attention to the linguistic atmosphere in the reading material, for example the difference between the “University of Michigan Law School” and “Peking University’s Law School”. And I have realized that language is so abstract, if we care more about it, we could learn more. What’s more, when reading, I will start to think about what the writer critically, not just follow what he said.
2. What have you failed to learn?
I still failed to think about the questions and problems cognitively. Many times, I just read the material and let it go, rather than think in my own way.
3. How will you learn what you have failed to learn but you still want to learn?
I will try listening and reading critically on purpose.

What are the basic requirements of English teachers?
When talking about this topic, I believe different people must have their own thoughts on what the basic requirements or qualities an English teacher should have. Here I am going to share my opinions on this topic. I may not cover all the basic requirements, but I think all the following requirements I mentioned are indispensable qualities.
1. A wide range of knowledge. A qualified English teacher should not only have the professional knowledge, but also the knowledge of other subjects. They need not have a good understanding of this knowledge, but at least they should have a general idea on this knowledge. We all know English is not an independent subject; it has various connections to other subjects, such as history, geography and even science. For example, when the teacher is having a class about modern technology, if he has no idea about this technology, how could he get the information across to the students? So to be a good English teacher, we should equip ourselves with as much diversified knowledge as possible. Besides, a knowledgeable teacher can earn students’ admiration more easily.
2. A good psychological quality. I think this point is very important. Teachers should not easily affected by their personal emotions or students’ behaviors. It is common that teachers will have low emotions, but they should learn to control themselves instead of pouring their bad mood to students.
3. High responsibility. I believe only the teacher with high responsibility can truly devote themselves to English education. Teachers should not regard teaching only as a job instead they should regard how to teach well as the job. Only when teachers realize they have the responsibility to teach well not just to teach, can they fully put their effort on education.
4. A sense of humor. This quality may be not easy for every English teacher to obtain. However, humor is really important in class. It can release the tense learning atmosphere. A humorous teacher can usually make the class active even when the content maybe boring. I think no students dislike humorous teachers.
Think aloud
When I read the passage,I first paid close attention to the title “The Issue of Employment for Graduates”. Actually ,I was attracted by the title the moment I noticed it. Though I am a sophomore now,I have realized the importance and hardship I have to face after I graduate. And it’s not far away. So it did spark my interest in the passage.
Before looking through the passage, a few questions appeared in my mind. First, what is the situation of employment for graduates on earth? Second, why will it happen? Third, how can we address the thorny problem?
Then I began to read the whole passage with the above questions. When I finished reading the passage, I got all that I wanted to know. Then I had a further thinking. What am I supposed to do if I want to win in the fierce job market? The answer might be equipping me with something useful from now on. For instance, interpersonal skills, stress tolerance and so on.
In the process,I read and reflected actively. Finally, I got the essence of the passage and organized my own thinking.
I just write a story about English learning when I was in middle school. To be honest, It was not until middle school that I really began to get in touch with English. So at the beginning, I didn’t know how to learn it and felt a little bit afraid. I have to say that it was the most miserable time in my life of English learning. I didn’t know how to read English words and I couldn’t catch what the teacher said. As a matter of fact, I really can’t understand what the teacher said. I wanted to ask teacher for help, but the teacher seemed terrible to me. I wanted to ask my classmates, but I was afraid that they might mock me. So I had to learn English own by myself. When morning reading, I had to listen to others secretly and tried to imitate them. In my spare time, I stayed in the classroom alone reading English grammar book. Day after day, every day such. Fortunately, one year later, I made great progress and from then on, I began to love English.
Honestly, I am deeply touched by myself in this case. At that time, the only thing I thought was to improve my English. Although the resources were limited, I indeed made full use of them (my classmates and a English grammar book) available to me. Nowadays there are quantities of resources for me to utilize, and the condition is much better than before. However, the most important thing is to make full use of them. Just as the old saying goes, there is a will, there is a way. I believe I will learn English well if I have a will as before.

I often use my favorite ways to learn English, such as, reading magazines and newspapers. I don’t like only study the boring English words and grammars. The purpose of learning English is not for examination but for use in our daily life.
When reading magazines and newspapers, I can also learn words and grammar. So in this way, I can learn English both for practice and examination. Therefore, I’m interested in learning English in this way.
There I will use think aloud to demonstrate a case in my English learning.
When i am learning english I will take notes in order to record the process.
So when i finish some learning ,I can look over the process which i have recorded before.
If I do like that I could find the way to resolve some problems.Because,it is make chance for finding out the causes of the problems.
So ,i will writ down what i am thinking about when i learn english .

I enjoy your progress in using English to express your ideas. It is not easy at the beginning. If you do more, you can become more and more skillful in using English. This is what we are doing together. I agree with you that we need to listen and read something interesting in learning English because interesting listening and reading materials can help us learn English more happily.

Do your teachers often ask you questions?

在过去的十二年学习生涯当中,老师们无论在哪里都会问我们问题,关于学习的,师生之间的,同学之间的等等。小学的时候吧,老师们问问题的时候如果有人回答不上来的话老师会气得骂我们不好好学,不看书之类的。就因为是这个原因吧我们渐渐的害怕被老师提问,深知自己知道问题也不会主动举手去回答。因为当时幼小的心灵受到了重重的打击所以我们就渐渐成这样了。

Do you often answer your teachers’ questions?

人们都说父母就是孩子最初的和最好的老师,我也很同意这个看法。因为到现在以来对我影响最深刻的就是我父母和我的几位老师。小时候我也是个喜欢不停地问问题的小孩,牵着爸爸的手上街或者去爷爷奶奶家的时候只要看到或听到我以前从未接触过的东西就跟爸爸问个清楚不可。爸爸也会很耐心的给我解释,指导我懂为止。但是我听到很多同学的父母跟我爸爸相反,回答一两个后就不耐烦了然后就骂孩子哪来的这么多问题。然后他们就从此再也不问为什么了。

If any, how do you answer these questions?

When your expectations of our English language teacher education are clear, we need to work together to turn these expectations into action. For example, if we want to achieve our successful curriculum and syllabus design, we need to make the students’ implicit and unspecified needs explicit and specified for our curriculum and syllabus design.
Firstly, we should distinguish the concept of bilingual models and bilingual education.
Models are defined in terms of their language-planning goals and ideological orientations toward linguistic and cultural diversity in society, and program types are defined in terms of specific contextual and structural characteristics. Models can be understood as broader, more abstract categories than program types, and help us understand on a very general level what bilingual education means.
For my perspective, we need communicative language teaching in class. It’s very important to communicate in the class when teachers use both languages. In the traditional teaching activity, students are passive to acquire knowledge. They treat learning as boring things. So, if we let students communicate with both students and teacher, it will made students more active in study.
As for students learning themselves, everyone should foster some fields they are interested in. because everyone has his advantages and disadvantages, that is to say, every student has his characteristics, every people is different.
Only in this way can we use the activities to prompt the bilingual education models.

I appreciate your expectations for knowing more in various areas of English language teaching. However, a wider vision must be perceived for you to learn more effectively. You need to remember that it is far from enough for you to know what you want to know. Learning to use what you know is much more important than learning to know it.
I tend to learn English naturally, that is, I don't select some specific approaches to learn the language on purpose; instead I read the English articles that are interesting to me, write in English to express my ideas when they comes in the version of English, and watch the videos- mostly films and the open courses online- out of interest. If this can be defined as a way, it seems more close to a natural way to acquire the language rather than to learn the language. Obviously, such a way is effortless and effective, but may not be very efficient for it needs time to amass the knowledge and skills.
Sometimes, in given situations, say, when I have to prepare for a test like CET 6, TEM 4, or IELTS, I choose to do the previous exam papers in the latest 3 years. However, unlike others, I am used to go through each paper word by word and take note of the new words and unfamiliar expressions, by which I can get more than just finish a exam paper. This method is more efficient to cram up the tests because each examination has its own particular features that call for different testing technique.
As far as I am concerned, there is no absolutely effective way of learning English but suitable approaches for each individual in varied cases. In learning, we do not only desire knowledge but also long for pleasure. If one method enables you learn with joy, then it will be a good one.
Sincerely thank you for considering our expectation from this class and my expectations are as follows:
(1) Firstly, as English language teacher education amis to cutivate future teachers so as to accelerate teacher development and enhance educational quality, the basic teaching techniques and teaching methods are fundamentall important, which is my primary expectation.
(2) Secondly, curriculum and syllabus design is not limited to macro level, namely the national level, but it also covers the micro level, giving teachers autonomy in designing his/her own curriculum to fit specific students'needs. Therefore, I think how to design curriculum and syllabus is also an very important aspect in teacher education which I expected.
(3) Thirdly, teaching aims not noly to teach students language knowlege, but also teach students to think and understand sociocultural pehnomena with language. I'd like to learn some skills in how to teach language within cultures.
That is just my main expectation from English teacher education, the other aspects of this program, such as teaching listening, teaching writing are necessarily equal important.
As my English is not very good, I try many ways to improve my English.
Watch English movies is a good way to improve my English. It's better if there is no Chinese subtitles. But if I can't understand what they say, I always ignore it and go on with the next plot. Comparing with watching English movies, I think reading English book is better. When it comes to difficult sentences, I will search for the Chinese means and make myself understand.
Look back on my different kinds of methods to study English. I think the most effective way for me is translation. That means translate Chinese article into English, compare it with original English text and find out the better sentence patterns and try to use then in our daily life. Birth comparing and using it in our daily life can make remember them more deeply. As to the worst way to learn English, maybe read one word I want to remember again and again. In this way, I can only memorize it in seconds and forget in quickly.
Thank you for this task to analyze my ways to learn English. I will find better ways to improve my English.

I usually use the following 4 ways to learn English. First,remember the new words. Second,recite the text. Third,do exercises. Fourth,watch American TV dramas.
Among the four methods,I give top priority to the second one—recite the text. And I think do exercises should be the least effective one. As far as I’m concerned, recite the text can train our sense of language, which plays a decisive role in our English learning. Apart from this, we will reflect on the material while reading. Then we may get the hang of grammar points and finally get the meaning of the whole passage. However, do exercises blindly doesn't make any sense. It seems we do the same thing we already understand repeatedly.
Overall, we are obliged to read more in order to learn English well.
There are mainly three things that I expect from a course for English language teacher education:1.General teaching skills
I want to know the teaching skills we need in order to be a good teacher.
English teaching skills
After I come to know the teaching skills a good teacher needs, I want to know in particular the teaching methods in the teaching of English.
Teaching culture
Dewey (1897) said that "It is true that language is a logical instrument, but it is fundamentally and primarily a social instrument."
I agree with Dewey that language is logical as well as social. Thus, I want to know the teaching of culture.
To learn English, I often use the following ways:
1. Recite the words and phrases on the vocabulary book in order to enlarge my vocabulary.
Advantage: It’s the most direct way to memorize the words and phrases and I could know the usage of them easily. What’s more, with such a book, I can recite them no matter where I go.
Disadvantage: It’s also the most mechanic way to learn English, and I should repeat again and again to remember those words firmly. And the process of learning is so boring that I often want to give up half-way.
Therefore, I think this way is the least effective way.

2. Watch the documentaries made by those English-speaking countries, such as National Geographic, BBC World Service, etc.
Advantage: It’s a vivid way to learn English. While learning, I reckon it will be easier and more delightful. Also, I can learn English through integrative senses, including hearing, seeing, and reading.
Disadvantage: Mostly, I just watch them for entertainment and knowledge. Seldom will I put what I learn in the documentaries into use.

3. Read the English novels, essays on the books or magazines, and then write my own reflection.
Advantage: Through the English novels and essays, there’s no need for me to memorize the word in the mechanic way, but I could learn the words in the context. What’s more, while reading, my vocabulary will become larger and larger, and I will be more familiar with those words, and express what I want to say into English more typical.
Disadvantage: Idleness is my biggest enemy.
However, I still reckon this way is the most effective way.

P.S: As for the question Professor Wu raised in class, “How can we learn English better from creative thinking?”, “How can we learn English better in creative thinking?”, “How can we learn English better for creative thinking?” here is my understanding upon the first and third question.
With creative thinking, we will come up with one after another ways to learn English better. And through comparing them, we can find the most effective way to improve English. For example, through the ways of copy new words, recite new words, read valuable texts, read interesting texts and read interesting and valuable texts, we can figure out that the last way is supposed to be the most effective way.
And, English is acknowledged as a world language, which means the process of learning English is also the process of sharing others’ thoughts. Therefore, if we learn English better, we may have the chance to stand on the top of some subject, which is good for our creative thinking.
1. What are your updated purposes of learning English?
Just as I mentioned in the class, I didn't like English at first, but I had no choice because English is one of the compulsory courses. Under the pressure of college entrance examination, I worked very hard for English. I still remembered that I had did four examination practice papers every night in the last month before the college entrance examination. My experience of learning and living in Beijing changed me completely. And my purpose of learning English varied from dealing with the tests to communicating with others. Even now, I still don't think I have the gift in English, but I believe I have in teaching. There is no doubt that good students can become a good teacher, however, a "bad" student may be more easier to be a better teacher because she experienced the same comfuse with the poor students so that she had a deeper understanding with them.
2. How do you improve your English learning for your new purposes?
For achieveing this new purpose, I did a lot in my professional skills training including vocabulary, grammar, hand-writing, pronunciation, expression and so on. Only standing on the recognition of our limitation and potential, can we find the way to improving what we need to improve.
1 What are your updated purposes of learning English?

As a prospective English teacher, it is time for me to meditate on the purposes of learning English. Frankly speaking, my purposes of learning English vary from period to period. As for me, I learned English when I was Grade Five in primary school. Up to now, I can still remember the original feeling and scene when I “make friends” with English. Since English for me at that time was so charming and amusing, my interest in English was aroused, thus despite the fact that the only English sentences I was able to say were “hello”, “ I don’t know ”,“good morning”, I was still quite enthusiastic about it. So my purpose of learning English at that period completely stemmed from interest. But as time progresses, my motivation of learning English is changing. When I was a middle school student, I learnt English not only because of my interest but also a must, for English was a compulsory course for me to learn. To be honest, obtaining a high score of English subject was a major purpose of learning English in middle school with the reason that all of us should take the High School Entrance Examination or College Entrance Examination. However, my aim of learning English in undergraduate period was split up into five reasons. At the very beginning, English was my major (I chose English as the first and the only major), so it was my responsibility to concentrate on it; meanwhile, English as a global language has its own glamour in that learning English not only enables me to have a good command of the language itself, but to cultivate my cultural awareness both abroad and at home. By immersing myself in the world of English, especially in the English and American Literature, I absorbed a lot of precious knowledge, which in turn broadened my horizon. Last but not least, learning English helps me to upgrade my English critical thinking, as an English major student, English critical thinking is a sort of crucial competence when we are confronted with the current complicated and changeable situation. Now, I am very delighted to be a postgraduate student in this university and I will take this opportunity to upgrade my integrated skills of English since my updated purpose of learning English is to be a qualified English teacher. At last, studying is a lifelong matter, as a saying goes it is never too old to learn.

2. How do you improve your English learning for your new purposes?

It turns out that to be a qualified English teacher is not an easy matter. As far as I am concerned, I will improve my English learning for my new purpose from the following three perspectives.

The first aspect is maintaining and inspiring my interest in learning English. Perhaps at the very beginning you will doubt that why I refer to inspiring my interest. Interested in English as I am, I still need to explore more about my English learning. I realize that the knowledge of English is endless, but our life is transient, so I need to stimulate my interest to learn more profound English language. Meanwhile, as everyone knows, interest is the best teacher, so I should make full use of this “teacher” to make progress. As a matter of fact, nowadays, the middle school students have already gain much more knowledge than we did years ago, which brings tremendous challenge for us novice teachers. So it urges us to enrich our knowledge of English. Here I really very appreciate the kindness of Professor Wu Benhu, who offers some English related information, such as some websites of English learning, which are very beneficial to us.

The second aspect is improving my English teaching skills. As I am not a normal school student, I have a serious shortage of teacher skill training or perhaps more accurately still lack any training about teaching, let alone English teaching. So during this term, I will grasp opportunities to listen to some front-line teachers’ classes and watch some videos of some English teachers. To be honest, at the thought of this weak point, a sense of melancholy descends on me… But however difficult it is, I will overcome it. I believe maybe these rocks and reefs will be priceless during my teaching career.
The third aspect is learning to reflect. I value input a lot, but at the same time, I will also attach much importance to reflection. English language learning and teaching need reflective thinking in that it is a good way for me to catch up with the process of learning and then to figure out the merits and demerits it exist. Life needs reflection, so is English language learning and teaching.

In conclusion, learning English is a long way, being a qualified English teacher needs my painstaking efforts.

The first sight of the word “updated” reminds me the memory of my former purposes of learning English. There is a little story here which was happened 5 years ago. That was the days in my high school. I did poor in all of my subjects such as Math, Chinese, Science and so forth. But comparatively speaking, my English is the best. So with the arrival of the College Entrance Examination, my parents suggested that I should choose English as my major. I thought that sounds reasonable. So I accept their suggestion. And this is the right reason why I learn English, not for loving English, but for abiding by what my parents’ idea.
But now, after four years’ English learning, I really find the charm of English, because it is a kind of language ability. Accomplishing a fluent oral English conversation with foreigners even makes me feel proud. That is my updated purpose of learning English. What’s more, the continuative learning of English also because I dream to be an English teacher.
2. How do you improve your English learning for your new purposes?
Because I have dreamed to be a teacher, firstly, I think I should learn some basic English cultural knowledge which is going to help me have a better understanding of the language. I have made my mind to read some books of English culture. Secondly, the spoken language is also vital to my English teaching because this ability is the main path to accomplish the information and knowledge transmission to the students. For this, I will practice my oral English more with others. Thirdly, the ability to do the research is also a necessity for me to learn because teachers are also the practitioners to do the research. This is what I can learn during my school days as a postgraduate student. Fourthly, as an English teacher, her or his mastery of language knowledge should be guaranteed. For this, I will read more English textbooks and do more learning exercises. Lastly, I should acquire a lot of teaching skills which is the most important thing during my learning period. I think auditing the English classes in the high schools and practicing giving students lectures must be a good way to improve this skills. All in all, I will try my best to make my dream come ture.

My purposes of learning English could be derived from my several English teachers who always asked me to answer their questions nearly in every class. It helped me a lot that I pay more attention to English than any other subjects in order to behave better than the others during class. When I was in Senior two, I did poor in all subjects except English, my English teacher treated me very well and always encouraged me. Since then, I determined to choose English as a mean to fulfill my childhood dream of being a teacher and studied hard to pass the college entrance examination. Later, I became an English major in English teaching, my purpose of learning English is to be a good English teacher both knowledgeable and skillful to let the students encouraged in my class.

2. How do you improve your English learning for your new purposes?
Beyond all doubt, learning the basic English knowledge and teaching skills is my goal during my past four-year undergraduate studies. But it is not enough. I want to have a good command of them and I need to combine theory and practice in my two-year further studies. What's more, my oral English is Number One emergency.

My English learning began in grade four, and would last to the end of my life. At the beginning, I was very fond of English. Thus, my purposes of learning English was to master English well and get high marks. Though I never considered that English would be my major, because of obeying the major transfer, English became my major in the end. There was no chance to change may major. So, to be an eligible English major became the purpose of learning English. Now, the other purpose is to be a good English teacher.

2. How do you improve your English learning for your new purposes?
There is no doubt that the basic knowledge and language skills should have already mastered well. So, now I should keep and improve my English skills, especially speaking. The most important are teaching skills and methods. Unluckily, though I will be an English teacher, I'm unfamiliar with teaching. Therefore, I should learn how to teach English by reading books and intern. In summary, combining theories with practice to improve my English level and teaching skills.
Q1:what are your updated purposes of learning English?
After attending this course, I gained some new ideas about my porpuses of learning English.
First, I learn English for communication. Not only use English to communicate with foreigners, but also with English cultre, social lives and etc.
Second, I learn English for self-perfection. Since I have decided to be an English teacher after graduation, a sound thoriy basis and international awareness are necessarily needed.
Third, I learn English for another way of seeing the world. As Mr.Wu said in the lecture of Language and Creative Thinking, language is a kind of power, which has the ability to change the world and influence the way we think. So I would like to give myself an opportunity to see this world in another way.

Q2:How do you improve your English Learning for new porpurses?
There are many ways to learn English: reading books, watching movies, listening to broadcast and etc. But for me, these are far from enough. In order to achieve my personal goals, I need to reading selectively, for time is limited. Then, what's the most important is that I need to persist in the way of studying, and never give up.
1. What are your updated purposes of learning English?
I first learnt English when I was Grade one in senior school, at that time, the underatanding of learning English was very fuzzy, I just wanted to learn this couese well and got high score in the examination. However, as I knew nothing about the method of English, and I have no interest in learning English, so my English was very poor in Grade one. Since the second year of junior school, I just began to recite the passage when I learnt English, to my surprise, I began to have an interest in learning this course, and got high score in the examination. After that, English was always the best in all the subjects, and I want to become an English teacher to teacher the students using my true heart, l like to stay with students and communite with them. So I choose the English education as my major at the university, learnt about the knowledge and skills of English teaching. I hope I can become a good English teacher one day.
2. How do you improve your English learning for your new purposes?
Just as l said before,I want to become a good English teacher in the future. As an English teacher, in my opion, I should lay a basis for specialized knowledge, that is to say, I should learnt each part of English professional very well, and to have broad vision of the knowledge about all the aspects, for example, using the materials to gather the information related the education or I am interested in; and the important is to pracitce. The purpose of us to learn the theory is to use or guide our practice, but till now, I find the skill of giving a lesson to senior/junior is still diffcult, so improve the skill of how to teach is very important.Secondly, English is just the communicative laguage, the purpose of us learning is to use it, to communicate with others. But my spoken language is quite poor, so I need to improve my oral English in the next time, insist listen voa or bbc every day. Persistence is hard, so I just want to make progress step by step.

1. What are your updated purposes of learning English?
I suddenly recall the original reason why I chose English to be my major as a university student. It was because I was simply into it as a foreign language, despite the fact that I learned the subject of English best during the three-year senior high school studying. But then I ask myself, why English? Why not Japanese, the language I was also interested in at that time.
My answer is that if I learn Japanese well, I would probably use it just as a tool of watching Japanese cartoons and TV series. But English is different. It is a global language, and as to me, it is still exotically charming, and I believe it will always be.
Then when I was facing the choice between job hunting and advanced studies, I chose the latter one, partly owing to my lack of self-confidence. At that moment, I realized that I neither was neither ready to be nor was qualified as an English teacher. There are so many things I haven’t learned well or ever heard about. I was afraid that I shouldn’t appear like an unprepared actor at the noble stage of teaching.
So my updated purposes of learning English is that I want to learn more about the magic of English and about the art of teaching during the two-year postgraduate period. Hope that I will be more confident when facing the vital challenge of my life.
2. How do you improve your English learning for your new purposes?
Without passion, how to succeed? It is always true for every career, so is teaching. A good teacher should embrace and enjoy every moment of his/her class, like an artist does to his/her work of art.
So when it comes to the improvement of my English learning for the new purposes, those so-called strategies or skills are not that attractive as they were four years ago. What matters to me is how to transform what I’ve learned into what I can teach.
As is known to all, listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating are five basic components of one’s foreign language abilities. Among them, speaking, as one of the two output abilities, is my “strongest” weak point. If I had planned to be a translator or something like that, speaking wouldn’t have been so important as it is now. But the fact is that, I had to think through a sentence before I can speak it out and if I’m forced to speak something improvised, I will be very nervous and frequently stumble over some words I don’t know how to express in English. To put it in a simple way, I am not able to express myself fluently and explicitly when speaking in English, which, unfortunately, turns out to be the key to the teaching career.
Imagine an English teacher who cannot speak English confidently in front of the whole class. What a terrible scene! So I’ve decided to catch every possible opportunity to speak publicly, for example, for the first time I participated an English speech contest in the last school term, and this Friday, I will take part in the academic salon. No matter what results it will be, those experiences are both precious and beneficial to me.

I have been learning English for more than 10 years. At first, i learned English not because i liked it but the school forced us to learn. So the only purpose or motivation is to get high marks. Gradually,i found i could do well in it without much effort. And the teacher told me that i had some talent in English learning, which changed my attitude in English learning. I fell in love with English. So with no hesitation, i chose English as my major in college. However, in college, getting high marks was not the main task. I found listening and speaking so important. From then on, i began to listen to English radios, such as VOA news or CNN and watch a lot of English movies. It did have some effect. Though my pronunciation could gain some improvement by listening, that was far not enough. In order to speak more natively, I tried to make friends with foreigners in my college. While communicating with them, i benifited a lot. Then after four years college life, i had to find a job. And my ideal job was to be a teacher. However, the knowledge i gained in college was not so relevant to English teaching. To be a qualified English teacher, much more need to be learned. To realize it, i began my new study life in Zhejiang Normal University.

1. What are your updated purposes of learning English?
Up till now, I have learning English for about 11 years. The purposes of learning English are changing in different periods of time. At the beginning, I learned it just for being admitted to a good university. As time past, I gradually realize that language is just a tool of communication. So at this time, my purpose of learning English is to transfer the language successfully and to be a good English teacher. Another purpose is to form English ways of thinking and to enjoy the English world.
2. How do you improve your English learning for your new purposes?
As to the first purpose, I think I should do the followings to realize it. Firstly, it is necessary to have a solid foundation of basic knowledge, especially speaking and grammar. Secondly, I should learn some knowledge about teaching methods, psychology and pedagogy so that I can help students to find a proper way to learn English. Besides, as a prospective teacher, I should also learn some practical teaching skills. In this aspect, I will try to grasp some chances to learn from skilled teachers and practice my own teaching skills. At the same time, learning from peers and discussing with them are also good ways to improve my teaching skills. Then, I can be an ideal English teacher one day in the future. Practice makes perfect. It is always true.
As to the second purpose, I think I can draw lessons from my classmates. In last class, the classmates bring forward some good ways of learning English and some effective ways to reach their purposes. It is not an easy way to form the English way of thinking. It needs long time practice. One classmate mentioned that watching English films and TV programs are helpful ways. Actually, I didn’t have a good habit of watching English TV programs. To some extent, it is an effective way to learn authentic English and form the English way of thinking eventually. So in the following time, I will try in this way. What’s more, English is a tool of communication. However, in my opinion, learning English is not just learning the basic knowledge of this language. In fact, it relates to the culture behind. So I think it may be helpful to read literatures English version instead of Chinese version. Meanwhile, it is essential to pay more attention to the news from English countries, for the action is a good reflection of their way of thinking. So far, I just have the above ideas. In my pinion, “the Arab Spring is coming to China” is not true. It’s widely acknowledged that our Chinese people have better life than past times. China’s government is firmly support by the Chinese people and China’s government tries its best for the benefit of the Chinese people. With the development of China, The western developed countries treat China as their threat. So they often framed us.
However, we should also see some bad phenomenon in our country. It also need a long time for the Chinese government to acquire the world's highest satisfaction, Human rights and democracy should be better protected than ever.

Integrated cognitive competence is an ever-advancing integration of abilities that enable human beings to learn the known and create the unknown, which is a complicated system that includes language ability, thinking ability, perception ability, memory ability, etc. (Wu Benhu 39). Wang mengqin’s current understanding of “Integrated cognitive competence”
According to the 《Oxford advanced learner’s English-Chinese dictionary》.“Integrated” means in which many different parts are closely connected and work successfully together; “Cognitive” means connected with mental processes of understanding; and “Competence ”means the ability to do something well.
So, in my opinion.“Integrated cognitive competence” is the ability that someone can connected many different things together and can well understanding these things.
What is integrated cognitive competence?

Fist , what is cognitive competence?
A doctoral dissertation (the methodology of competence-based study program level identification) from Kaunas university of technology defines the cognitive competence as the problem-solving and analytical skills .
“these skills defines the possibilities of work improvement.” and “The cluster of cognitive activity involving the skills of global thinking and acting as well as experience evaluation gets oriented to the highest levels of activity as well, and experience evaluation is possible when possessing skills of reflection”
“In upper secondary (vocational) and higher education programs the cognitive competence is other dominating cluster of overlapping competences, which includes such skills as problem-solving, analytical skills and the skills of learning how to learn that form critical thinking.”
These skills “are developed when applying group work and active methods

Daniel smith thinks cognitive competencies helps reveal the mental operations involved in any complex task so that we can learn and teach more quickly and effectively.

Willis SL defined cognitive competence as the ability to perform adequately those cognitively complex tasks considered essential for living on one’s own in this society.
