Our Position (课程定位)

Our course ‘Exploring the Developing Integrated Cognitive Competence (EDICC)’ aims at constructing interdisciplinary research-driven study with cognitive science as its core. (我们的课程《综合认知能力发展探究》旨在建构以认知科学为核心的跨学科研究性学习。)

 

Do your teachers often ask you questions?

Do you often answer your teachers’ questions?

If any, how do you answer these questions?

Do you answer them creatively?

If any, what questions do you ask?

 

I tell you, I often ask myself questions.

With my long experience in asking questions, I have found two types of questions are very important:

 

1.    Basic questions

1)     What is study?

2)     What is research?

3)     What is friendship?

2.    Challenging questions

1)     What is the difference between study and research?

2)     What is the cognitive competence?

3)     What is the integrated cognitive competence?

4)     What is creativity?

 

Wu Benhu’s Current Understanding of Creativity (吴本虎当前对创造性的理解):

1.     Creativity is our human nature.

2.     We can develop our creativity with our own efforts.

3.     We can develop our creativity by initiating and carrying out our creative thinking and engaging in our creative action.

4.     We can carry out our creative thinking

1)     by perceiving the world in new ways

2)     by finding hidden patterns

3)     by making connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena

4)     by re-framing and exploring different perspectives

5)     by adding more and more ideas in the list of solutions to a problem

6)     by using new ideas in fundamentally different ways

7)     by engaging in multidisciplinary collaborations (开展多学科整合)

8)     by sharing tools and ideas

9)     by inventing different ways of working

10) by making a contribution every day

11) by exchanging knowledge and ideas

12) by shaping the direction of the future

5.     We can engage in our creative action by writing down the results of our creative thinking and trying some ideas if possible.

What is ‘integrated cognitive competence’?

(什么是综合认知能力?)

1)     You are encouraged to discuss the question with your classmates and help each other in answering it. (鼓励大家先讨论问题,并且在互相帮助中寻求答案。)

2)     You can answer it either in English or in Chinese. (用中、英文均可。)

3)     You may write down your difficulties and your efforts in search for its answers. (可以记下寻求问题答案过程中的困难与所作的努力。)

4)     You are required to present your class work as responses to the article for this session at 吴本虎学友之园博客生活 http://www.cnweblog.com/wubenhu/ (要求将作业上传至本课程每一讲之后的回复栏中。)

5)     You may answer more or less and your answer consists of 10% of the total score of the course, that is, your 8 class works consist of 80% of the total score. Your class works are assessed according to your effort, that is, you will get the full score after you present your class work. (回答多少不限,每次占课程成绩的10%8次课的作业共占80%的课程成绩。每次的课堂作业只要努力了,就可得满分。)

6)     The last course report makes the rest 20% of the total score of the course. This report consists of all your class works and should be printed for submission. It will be assessed accord to the quality of the contents. (最后提交打印的课程报告占课程成绩的20%。该课程报告根据内容评分。)

7)     The first course work is required to be presented before 14:00, February 16, 2012. (第一次课程作业的上传期限为201221614:00之前。)

8)     You must provide the sources of your citations as demonstrated above. The web address is required for each citation from the Internet. If a citation has no source, it is to be taken as a plagiarism that will cause serious consequences. (凡是引述都必须跟本文一样标明出处。网上下载的资料还需标出网址。如有引述不标出处,那将被视为剽窃。其后果严重。)

What is integrated cognitive competence?

Fist , what is cognitive competence?
A doctoral dissertation (the methodology of competence-based study program level identification) from Kaunas university of technology defines the cognitive competence as the problem-solving and analytical skills .
“these skills defines the possibilities of work improvement.” and “The cluster of cognitive activity involving the skills of global thinking and acting as well as experience evaluation gets oriented to the highest levels of activity as well, and experience evaluation is possible when possessing skills of reflection”
“In upper secondary (vocational) and higher education programs the cognitive competence is other dominating cluster of overlapping competences, which includes such skills as problem-solving, analytical skills and the skills of learning how to learn that form critical thinking.”
These skills “are developed when applying group work and active methods
of learning ”

Daniel smith thinks cognitive competencies helps reveal the mental operations involved in any complex task so that we can learn and teach more quickly and effectively.

Willis SL defined cognitive competence as the ability to perform adequately those cognitively complex tasks considered essential for living on one’s own in this society.

Fang hongli’s understanding of cognitive competence:
1、cognitive competence is the skill to solve problem, analyse as well as learn from critical thinking.
2、Cognitive competence is very important for us to success and is also essential for living on one’s own in this society.
3、We can develop our cognitive competence with our efforts.
4、We can develop our cognitive competence by applying group work and active methods of learning ”

Wang mengqin’s current understanding of “Integrated cognitive competence”
According to the 《Oxford advanced learner’s English-Chinese dictionary》.“Integrated” means in which many different parts are closely connected and work successfully together; “Cognitive” means connected with mental processes of understanding; and “Competence ”means the ability to do something well.
So, in my opinion.“Integrated cognitive competence” is the ability that someone can connected many different things together and can well understanding these things.

My English is very poor, but I have worked very hard in the class. As a study electronic specialized student , I think ‘ integrated cognitive ’ is means we know a lot of electronic components .This may be is short-term know for everyone .However, learning electronic professional knowledge good is very important for us. It can help us to find our future work .
Integrated cognitive is to rely on the cultivation of us slowly. Simple for it, we know one thing deeply understanding.

认知能力(cognitive abilities,cognitive ability);认知能力是指人脑加工、储存和提取信息的能力,即人们对事物的构成、性能与他物的关系、发展的动力、发展方向以及基本规律的把握能力。它是人们成功的完成活动最重要的心理条件。知觉、记忆、注意、思维和想象的能力都被认为是认知能力。   
美国心理学家加涅(R.M.Gagne)提出3种认知能力:言语信息(回答世界是什么的问题的能力);智慧技能(回答为什么和怎么办的问题的能力);认知策略(有意识地调节与监控自己的认知加工过程的能力)。

同学交流的看法各不相同,具有代表性的有以下几种:
所谓综合认知能力,就是对某一事物进行全面的,多角度的分析,由此可以分析出事物的各种优缺点,从而更好的发挥事物的利用价值.
在学习上,综合认知能力就是对一门课进行深入了解.举例来说,我们学习数学时,不仅仅是要掌握数学课本上有关的知识内容,而且要更进一步的了解数学的发展史,并结合语文/物理/生物等各种知识去解决相应的问题.对于各种题目还要有一题多解的能力,这就可以说是综合认知能力.
综合认知能力,简单说就是举一反三的能力.
So ,from all this above,I think I can make some conclusions about the question "what is integrated cognitive competence".
As far as I am concerned ,we should know what ,why and how .Take knowledge for example,if we want to learn knowledge well,we should first know what is knowledge.And then,we should make us understand that why we have to learn knowledge well.After clearing up these two questions,then we should make plan to learn it,that means how to learn knowledge.If,we can dear with "what,why,how" well.we can also cope with all the things my classmates' talk about well.
Cognitive competence concludes consciousness,memory,attention,thinking,imagination and so on.Those abilities can help us to do "what,why,how" better.

Integrated cognitive competence is an ever-advancing integration of abilities that enable human beings to learn the known and create the unknown, which is a complicated system that includes language ability, thinking ability, perception ability, memory ability, etc. (Wu Benhu 39). It’s the key competence in people’s exploration of the ever-developing world where higher and more complex cognitive competence is in demand in order to create a better world.

综合认知能力也能理解为对事物的全方位感知、研究,认知能力从字面上就可看出,认识并且知道,也就是对陌生事物从认识到了解的能力,那也就需要一种创新的能力,不断的去探索知识。综合一词也就是要全方位的去了解、研究。仅是本人思考所得,见识有限,望老师见谅。  回复  更多评论

在过去的十二年学习生涯当中,老师们无论在哪里都会问我们问题,关于学习的,师生之间的,同学之间的等等。小学的时候吧,老师们问问题的时候如果有人回答不上来的话老师会气得骂我们不好好学,不看书之类的。就因为是这个原因吧我们渐渐的害怕被老师提问,深知自己知道问题也不会主动举手去回答。因为当时幼小的心灵受到了重重的打击所以我们就渐渐成这样了。

人们都说父母就是孩子最初的和最好的老师,我也很同意这个看法。因为到现在以来对我影响最深刻的就是我父母和我的几位老师。小时候我也是个喜欢不停地问问题的小孩,牵着爸爸的手上街或者去爷爷奶奶家的时候只要看到或听到我以前从未接触过的东西就跟爸爸问个清楚不可。爸爸也会很耐心的给我解释,指导我懂为止。但是我听到很多同学的父母跟我爸爸相反,回答一两个后就不耐烦了然后就骂孩子哪来的这么多问题。然后他们就从此再也不问为什么了。
