For Whom and for What Do You Learn? (你为谁为何而学?)
Every student in learning and every teacher in further education must ask two basic questions:
For whom do you learn?
For what do you learn?
The answers to these two questions are quite clear conceptually, but may not be so clear in reality:
We should learn for ourselves instead of learning for our teachers.
We should learn for our physical and mental development instead of learning for exams.
However, in reality we have to learn for our teachers and we have to learn for exams. That’s a great tragedy or a major source of our dissatisfaction and grievance in learning.
If a teacher imposes learning something or even learning everything on his or her students, that will lead to a tragedy in the end because the students will lose their dreams, initiatives and internal motivation in learning.
