"shower"就是“淋浴”，“take a shower"就是“洗个澡”的意思。我们也可以说“take a bath."意思是相同的。不过要注意的是"The bath is ready."可不能说成“The shower is ready." 因为"shower" 是淋浴的意思，“淋浴的水已经准备好了是不合逻辑的喔！
"The bath is ready."意思是洗澡水放好了。"~is ready." 就是指某件东西已经准备好了。比如说，"The meal is ready." 意思是说“可以吃饭了”。
The bath is ready. 洗澡水放好了。
The meal is ready. 饭煮好了。
The bus is ready. 车子已经在等了。
亲子对话：
Mom: Be careful. The floor is slippery.
小心地板很滑。
Frank: Mom, there isn't any hot water.
妈，没有热水。

hot water 是“热水”，例如说“Can I have some hot water ? 我可以要一点热水吗？”
hot 还可以说 hot spring , 意思是“温泉”。
另外还有 hot temper “坏脾气”，例如" He has got a hot temper."意思是“他有着坏脾气“。
hot Potato “烤洋芋”也可比喻为“烫手山芋”表示棘手的问题。
