There are two things on the WERN Highlight meeting captured my thoughts. One is the presentation by Navigator Development group. It demonstrated the 3D solar system and a pump machine. In the 3D solar system, viewers can choose the place where they view the system. In the pump machine demo, the machine moves slowly to allow the learner to see how it works. The two things remind me of the SmartGraphic we potentially can use in our LCMS for the paper machine training. It would be great if the learner can choose the angle to see the machine. Or the making of the Smartgraphic is easy with their tool.
The second one is an authoring tool developed by Vcom3D which can make an avatar with just drag-and-drops. The avatar can imitate human facial expression, body gesture, and the lip can move while the sound record is playing. The founder of the tool told me the tool can export the avatar in flash format. This is another potential resource for our eLearning assets. Vcom3D got award by DOD because of this tool.
